Weightlifting Equipment

Here is what weightlifting equipment is all about. It is used for lifting a weight called the barbell, which consists of a steel bar (weighing 20 kg for a men, 15 kg for a women). At various stages of the competion, rubber-coated and differently coloured weight discs are loaded and fastened with the help of collars (weighing 2.5 kg each). Competing athletes do their stuff on an elevated stage with a platform of 4 by 4 metres made of wood and coated with non-slippery material.

Weightlifting equipment may be categorized into two three basic groupings according to use. The first line is for gym use. Then you have the competition-calibrated equipment the measurements of which meet the requirements of the Olympics. Finally, you have the home-use line which are usually compact versions of the first line.

Depending on which line you select, the pricing will vary, with the home version being the cheapest, the gym version being cheap, and competition-type being least cheap–it may even be expensive. If you are new to the weight lifting business and you are just starting to pack pounds, you might want to consider hitting the gym for a while until you decide to buy your own weightlifting equipment. This way, you can avoid the possibility of wasting money by having the equipment rot in the attic in a few months! You may even consider the temporary virtues of renting.
Most weight lifting equipment will consist of the following. For accessories, you will have a Super Gripper, Wrist Ripper, a Squat Bar Pad, carpet savers and rubber gym plates. Then you have the bar family, which consists of: the Olympic bars; the combination; safe squat; regular; threaded; and curl bars. And finally, you have your benches, collars, plates and sets.
